The Ravnur Media Portal offers two options for editing the length of your media items: clipping or trimming. This page focuses on the process of creating a clip.
General notes
- Clipping a video does not change the original video. Instead, a new video file is added to the “Videos” list as a separate file.
- Because clipping creates a new physical version of the video, it takes some time to copy and cut the original video. During this time, the caption creation, face detection, and cue point creation features are disabled.
- To increase the processing speed, the clipping is not frame-accurate. Your in- and out-points for the edits are accurate only to the nearest keyframe, normally within a 2-second window, which should not have a significant effect on the new video.
Create clip
Follow these steps to create a clip from your video:
1. Go to your desired video and press “Video editors”.
A “Clip & Trim editor” will appear with the “Create clip” option selected by default:
2. Set In- and Out-Points:
- Below the player is a timeline that displays selected keyframes from the video. Use the blue handles at either end of the timeline to set the in- and out-points by dragging them.
- Alternatively, you can set the Start and End time manually using the hh:mm:ss format.
- The vertical blue line, or Current Time Indicator (CTI), moves with the player. You can drag the CTI to advance the player or use the player controls to move the CTI.
4. Click “Create clip” to start the transcoding job.
If the video has captions or chapters, they will be automatically clipped. Learn more.
5. Once the new video file is created, you can insert a Title, Description, and Tags to it.
