The trim editor lets you quickly remove unwanted sections from the beginning or end of your videos. Use this feature to create a precisely trimmed video without altering the original file.

Considerations
- Trimming a video does not change the original video. Instead, it creates a new version (and turns on Versioning) that becomes the active version and is downloadable. The original video is saved, and you can revert to the original video if needed.
- Because trimming creates a new physical version of the video, it takes some time to copy and trim the original video. During this time, the caption creation, face detection, and cue point creation features are disabled.
- To increase processing speed, the clip is not frame-accurate. Your in- and out-points for the edits are only accurate to the nearest keyframe, usually within a 2-second window, which should not have a significant effect on the trimmed version.
Trim a video
Create a new active version of the current video by following these steps:
1. Click the Video editors and select the Trim video option.
2. Set your trim points:
- Move the left marker to set the start point and the right marker to set the end point. The highlighted blue area shows the portion you'll keep.
-
Alternatively, set the Start time and End time using the
hh:mm:ss
format.
3. Play the video to preview your trimmed selection before finalizing.
4. Optional: edit the Title for a new version.
5. Click the Trim video. This will start the transcoding job and save your trim as a new original version.
If the video has captions or chapters, they will be trimmed automatically. Learn more.
As a result, a new version is active for viewing on the Portal.
