In the live streaming section of the admin portal, you can create Live Sources, which are the origins of your live stream from the player’s perspective. Ravnur utilizes either Ravnur Media Services (default) or MUX (enabled by request) to encode and deliver live streams to the player.
HTTP Live Stream URL usage and considerations
If you prefer to stream from a server other than RMS or MUX, you can use the Generic (HTTP Live Stream URL) Live Source option. This allows you to input an HLS .m3u8 playlist URL, which is then sent to the player. While most functionalities remain the same, there are a few key differences:
- Recording and VOD Conversion: Generic live source streams are not recorded or converted to VOD assets.
- Automatic Captioning: Generic live sources cannot use the automatic captioning service.
Note: Automatic captioning is available only for MUX live sources at this time.
