Password protection restricts who can view a live event: viewers without the password can reach the event page but can't load the player or view the stream. RMP supports a single password for all viewers, keeping access simple to manage and support. This guide walks you through setting a password for a live event and sharing it with viewers.
In this article:
Set a password
- When scheduling a live event, editing an existing live event, or creating a live event template, scroll to the Restricted access section of the form.
- Select Require an access code to view the stream. A text entry box appears.
- Enter the event's password or access code. You can edit it later by editing the live event.
Share the password
- After scheduling the live event, open the Edit live event page to get the event URL.
- Share the event URL and password with viewers using your preferred communication method.
On the event page, viewers enter the password in the password field. Without the correct password, the player doesn't load.
Best practices
- Keep the password simple and easy to remember: password protection isn't meant to protect highly sensitive information; it's a way to restrict viewers to those you've invited. A complex password leads to people missing the stream because they forgot it or don't have access to the invitation.
- Put support contact details in the event description: viewers often arrive at the last minute, and some won't have the password. Give them a way to quickly request it so they can join the stream.
