Several software and hardware encoders work well with Ravnur Media Services and the list is growing as more companies certify their equipment or software with Microsoft. Please check directly with Microsoft at this page for the most recent list of approved encoders.
Regardless of the encoder, there are a few settings that must be observed in order to prevent discontinuities and stream failure. The first consideration is the stream type. When streaming RTMP or RTMPS, you must ensure that your firewall is properly configured:
For RTMP, check firewall and/or proxy settings to confirm that outbound TCP ports 1935 are open.
For RTMPS, check firewall and/or proxy settings to confirm that outbound TCP ports 1936 are open.

- Codec: H.264
- Frame rate: 30 fps
-
Bitrate:
Type | Bitrate (kbps) |
---|---|
Minimum | 2500 |
Average | 5000 |
Dynamic | 10000-12000 |
To ensure a stable streaming connection, it's important to check your upload speed. The maximum bitrate you select should be no more than half of your available upload speed. For example, if your network's maximum upload speed is 20,000 Kbps, you should set the bitrate to no more than 10,000 Kbps.
